VITRECTOMY TROCARS

Vitrectomy trocars are used in surgical treatments in the posterior part of the eye and enables the ophthalmologist to treat retinal detachments, retinal hemorrhages and pars plana vitrectomies directly inside the eye through very thin tubes (trocars), without having to open a large access point. This surgical technique, which was developed 40 years ago, has greatly reduced the rate of complications, thereby revolutionizing ophthalmic surgery in the posterior chamber. The globally most widely used trocar dimension (23G = 0.6mm) was developed in 2004 in collaboration with H.P. Braem AG.
